Who Should Not Take Macugen?

You should not take Macugen if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Macugen, pegaptanib sodium, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have an infection in or near your eyes.
