An Overview of PreserVision Drug Interactions

® PreserVision® can potentially interact with a few other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to PreserVision interactions include:
- Doxycycline (Periostat®, Vibramycin®)
- Fluoroquinolone antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro®), gatifloxacin (Tequin®), levofloxacin (Levaquin®), moxifloxacin (Avelox®), norfloxacin (Noroxin®), and ofloxacin (Floxin®)
- Tetracycline (Sumycin®)
- Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
PreserVision Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when PreserVision is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Doxycycline (Periostat, Vibramycin)
Zinc (one of the components of PreserVision) can decrease the absorption of doxycycline into your body, making it less effective. Be sure to take zinc and doxycycline at different times of the day (several hours apart).
Fluoroquinolones
Zinc (one of the components of PreserVision) can decrease the absorption of fluoroquinolones into your body, making it less effective. Be sure to take zinc and fluoroquinolones at different times of the day (several hours apart).
