People who take too much PreserVision may have overdose symptoms that could include:

  • Chills
  • Yellow eyes and skin
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Mouth or throat irritation
  • Drowsiness
  • Peeling or dry skin
  • Hair loss
  • Headaches
  • Blurry vision
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Kidney stones
  • Anemia
  • Seizures
  • Liver failure
  • Metallic taste
  • Muscle pain.

If you happen to overdose on PreserVision, seek medical attention immediately (see PreserVision Overdose).

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose of PreserVision?

If you do not take your PreserVision as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of PreserVision.

PreserVision Strengths

PreserVision is available in tablets or soft gels. The soft gels also come in a form with lutein instead of beta-carotene. Although beta-carotene (not lutein) was used in the AREDS formulation in the study, it may be a good idea for smokers to avoid beta-carotene (since it may increase the risk of cancer in people who smoke). The PreserVision lutein formulation is probably a better choice for people who smoke.
